After Grafting
Instruction Sheet Post Grafting
Following a grafting procedure, proper aftercare is essential to protect the treatment area and support successful healing. It is common to experience mild swelling, tenderness, and slight bleeding during the first few days after treatment. Following all post-operative instructions carefully can help promote healing and improve the long-term success of your graft. Resting, staying hydrated, and avoiding strenuous activity during the initial recovery period are important steps in supporting your body’s healing process.
To help minimize discomfort and protect the graft site, take all prescribed or recommended medications as directed. Applying ice packs during the first 24–48 hours may help reduce swelling and improve comfort. Patients should avoid smoking, using straws, or touching the grafted area with the tongue or fingers, as disturbing the site can interfere with healing. Eating soft foods and avoiding crunchy, hard, or spicy foods can also help prevent irritation and protect the surgical area.
Our team is dedicated to ensuring your recovery is as comfortable and successful as possible. Healing times can vary depending on the type of grafting procedure performed and individual patient needs. If you experience severe pain, excessive bleeding, unusual swelling, or have questions during your recovery, please contact our office right away.
